1026A How To Investigate An Accident
This video explains the basics of accident investigation and the benefits of investigating every accident regardless of its size or severity and why this policy is an essential part of your overall safety program.
Topics discussed in this safety video include: the definition of the word “accident,” the purpose of an investigation, assigning codes for specific categories of the data, type of industry, the size of the establishment and number of employees, employee characteristics or the victim's age, sex, department, occupation, whether full-time, part time or seasonal, length of service, and how often the employee repeats the activity involved in the accident, a narrative description of the accident itself, including what the person was doing, what objects or substances were involved, all actions which led to the accident and a brief history of any preceding events that might have contributed to the accident, temperature, light, noise, or weather that related to the accident, characteristics of the equipment associated with the accident such as the type, brand, size, distinguishing features of the equipment, its condition, age, and of course, the specific part or parts involved, characteristics of the task performed at the time of the accident, both the general category of the task and time factors or the time of day the accident occurred, the severity of the injury and the part or parts of the body affected, statements from eyewitnesses, as well as taking photographs or video of the accident's location, the equipment involved and other pertinent information to verify the information in the report, basic form used and corrective action.
1012B Hearing Conservation
Noise can damage your hearing permanently, that's why it's important to protect your hearing at work, home, and everywhere else. Awareness of the hazard is the first step toward preventing an injury and an injury to your hearing is serious business.
Topics included in the safety video are: hearing tests, sound level meters, clip-on decimeters, training, common causes of hearing loss, sound level meter, canal caps, soft plugs, custom plugs, and earmuffs.
1017B Respirators: The New Rules
There have been many improvements in respiratory technology, as well as improved knowledge on how to protect people exposed to potentially harmful contaminants.
Topics included in this safety video are: engineering controls, written program and procedures, respirator selection, emergencies, something new in the rules, medical evaluations, fit testing, seal checks, training, dust masks, and respiratory protective equipment maintenance.
1018B Respirator Selection
(Short Version) - Anyone wearing a respirator must be trained and authorized by the company in several different areas such as how to put on and take off the respirator. We call that donning and doffing. The process is simple, but it does require some basic knowledge, which we'll now review. You are being asked to select the respirator that provides the most acceptable fit. A mirror must be provided to assist you in evaluating the fit and positioning of the respirator. Each respirator represents a different size and shape and if fitted and used properly, will provide adequate protection. Hold each face-piece up to the face and eliminate those that do not give you an acceptable fit. Put the most comfortable mask on your face and wear it for at least 5 minutes.
Other topics included in this safety video are: Conduct seal checks, facial hair or sideburns, positive pressure seal check, negative pressure test, different types of respirators, Permissible Exposure Limit, Time-Weighted Average , Ceiling Exposure Limit, Threshold Limit Values, oxygen deficiency, IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health), contaminants, ESLI (End of Service Life Indicator), SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus), filtering respirators, respirator use, air-purifying and atmosphere supplying respirators, limitations of respirator use, breathing air quality for atmosphere supplying respirators, filtering facepiece, and SCBA and respirator maintenance.
1019B Fit Testing Under New NIOSH Standards
This short program explains the new rules and procedures for proper fit testing of respiratory equipment. These new standards have established new filtering efficiency and performance criteria for all non-powered, air-purifying, particulate-filter respirators. The purpose of fit testing is to make sure the respirator you use will not leak, under normal use and working conditions. Almost any respirator you use will appear to fit, but individuals wearing a respirator may not always be able to detect a leak; therefore a good fit testing program is necessary.
Topics included in the safety video are: Air-Purifying and Particulate-Filter respirators, fit testing - quantitative and qualitative, general requirements, seal checks, and documentation.
1044F Advanced Fire Extinguisher Training
(Short Version) Fire extinguishers and extinguishing materials have been around for a long time. You've seen them everywhere; they're very useful and have saved many lives. But not everyone understands them or knows how to use them. The subject for this training program is understanding more about extinguishers and how they work. The objective of the training is to save lives and property, in that order. Always remember that life safety is much more important than property.
Topics covered in this safety video include: the purpose of fire extinguishers, fire extinguisher inspections, inspection records, what to do once an extinguisher has been used, what to do in the event an extinguisher is used or found to be defective, the service tag, types of extinguishers, PASS, classes of fires and types of extinguishers to extinguish each, proper use of extinguishers, and dangers of smoke.
9001A Jump Start Your Battery Safety
A car battery is a rechargeable cell in the starting-lighting-ignition variety of batteries. They are also in the lead acid family of batteries. Lead acid batteries are the oldest style of rechargeable batteries. The high power output of a car battery is necessary to supply a high current draw needed for the engine starter. A normal car battery provides about 12.6 volts and is divided into 6 separate cells and each cell produces about 2.1 volts per cell. As the battery state of charge decreases, the voltage produced also decreases.
Battery power is created through a chemical reaction. Inside your battery there are positive and negative lead plates that are immersed in an electrolyte solution called battery acid. This solution is a combination of water and sulfuric acid. When the solution interacts with the lead plates, the chemical interaction creates voltage. This voltage is then released through the battery’s positive terminal (red) and returned to the negative terminal (black). Voltage from the alternator maintains the battery state of charge. This continuous cycle can produce electricity for years.
Topics included in this safety video are: basic problems, using a regular charger, jump charging a dead battery, basic battery maintenance, and other battery information.
9004A Employee Safety Orientation For Automotive Personnel
This program is an overview of your safety responsibilities to help you perform your job safely. Safety is a responsibility that’s important to you, the company, and to your fellow employees. Our basic safety policy is simply this: "We don't have any job that can't be performed safely." Don't take short cuts or risks. There's only one-way to perform your job. If it can't be done safely, we don't want you to do it. That's our policy and your obligation.
