Description: MARCOM's "Personal Protective Equipment" HAZWOPER Videotape Program assists facilities in complying with the employee training requirements of OSHA's HAZWOPER regulation (29 CFR 1910.120), and helps instruct employees on the selection and use of personal protective equipment (such as chemical protective clothing and respirators) in environments where hazardous materials are present. Hazardous materials and waste are part of many work situations, and can be found on many types of job sites. OSHA feels that it is so important for employees to know how to recognize these potentially dangerous substances (as well as how to handle and dispose of them properly) they have mandated that anyone working with these substances receive comprehensive training in this area. In 1976, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) to regulate the handling of hazardous waste "from cradle to grave". Since then other regulations have followed, including OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.120, also known as HAZWOPER. As part of these regulations, there are varying requirements for employee training, depending on an employee's specific level of involvement with hazardous materials. The Videotape Program includes information on the roles of Personal Protective Equipment, Level A Personal Protective Equipment, Level B Personal Protective Equipment, Level C Personal Protective Equipment, Level D Personal Protective Equipment, PPE and Heat Stress, and more. The Videotape Program comes with a comprehensive Leader's Guide, reproducible Scheduling & Attendance Form, Employee Quiz, Training Log and Training Certificate. The Program can be used as the basis for approximately two hours of classroom training.
Personal Protective Equipment Video and DVD Excerpt: Most jobs are impossible without the proper tools. A carpenter can't drive nails with his bare hands. A grounds keeper can't trim a lawn with a pair of scissors. And you can't work with hazardous materials in your street clothes. You need personal protective equipment to stay safe. Personal protective equipment or PPE in a blanket term for any item you wear that protects you from contamination by hazardous materials as well as physical injuries. This includes chemical protective clothing (CPC), respirators and specialized gear such as; hardhats face shields and work boots. OSHA's HAZWOPER classifies PPE into categories: Level A, Level B, Level C and Level D. Level A PPE is used where you face the greatest dangers, while level D PPE are for areas that are relatively safe.
