Overview:

This program provides practical information regarding surgical skin preparation prior to surgical intervention. One of the goals is to prevent wound contamination and postoperative surgical wound infections. Considerations regarding hair removal, antimicrobial solutions, skin bacteria, and incision site are discussed. In the video demonstrations include abdominal, extremity, breast, vaginal, and an abdominal prep when a stoma is present.
