Eye Safety Video Excerpt:
The world is full of close calls, especially where our eyes are concerned. With flying metal, and wood shavings, and chemical splashes, how many times have we shut our eyes, or turned away just as some hazard came shooting up at us? Think back. How many close calls have you had? Without our eyesight we would lose so much of what our world had to offer: a baby's smile, a mountain sunset, a 6-4-3
double play. It's plain to see we need to see our fragile eyesight as a gift, and safeguard it from harm. But what types of hazard exist, and how can we protect ourselves? Only by answering these questions can we take all the proper precautions. Let's take a look at some specific threats to our eyes. Many operations are capable of producing dangerous flying particles, the most common eye hazard. The basic protection in these situations is safety glasses with shatter resistant lenses. Particles can also come at us from the side. That's why protective side shields are needed.
