Description: MARCOM's "Confined Space Entry" HAZWOPER Videotape Program assists facilities in complying with the employee training requirements of OSHA's HAZWOPER regulation (29 CFR 1910.120), and helps employees understand how to reduce or eliminate potential exposure to hazardous materials in their confined space work environments. Hazardous materials and waste are part of many work situations, and can be found on many types of job sites. OSHA feels that it is so important for employees to know how to recognize these potentially dangerous substances (as well as how to handle and dispose of them properly) they have mandated that anyone working with these materials receive comprehensive training in this area. In 1976, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) to regulate the handling of hazardous waste "from cradle to grave". Since then other regulations have followed, including OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.120, also known as HAZWOPER. As part of these regulations, there are varying requirements for employee training, depending on an employee's specific level of involvement with hazardous materials. Areas covered in the program include definitions of confined spaces, hazards encountered in confined spaces, OSHA's Permit-Space Entry Program, duties and responsibilities of the entry team, atmospheric testing, protecting entrants in hazardous atmospheres, the use of lifelines in rescue operations, and more. The Videotape Program comes with a comprehensive Leader's Guide, reproducible Scheduling & Attendance Form, Employee Quiz, Training Log and Training Certificate. This program can be used as the basis for approximately two hours of classroom training. 
Confined Space Entry Video and DVD Excerpt: Confined space entries are never routine. You may use the same equipment, run the same tests and even work with the same crew. But the conditions you face inside can be different every time. Tight areas, loose materials and moving parts are just a few of the things that can complicate an entry. And when hazardous materials are added to the mix things can become even more dangerous. To protect workers in these situations OSHA created the permit required confined space regulation. OSHA defines confined spaces as areas large enough for a person to enter and work in, but are not designed for continuous use. These include; tanks, silos, storage bins, pits and hoppers. OSHA requires all facilities that may have employees entering confined spaces to setup written permit space entry programs. Under these programs spaces are examined for unsafe conditions, such as hazardous atmospheres containing flammable or toxic gasses or vapors, atmospheres with too little or too much oxygen.
